I had to post about it because of all of the FREE fun we had! So here's a few tips if you're going there today:
*Be sure to bring 2 non perishable food items with you, to make your parking $2 instead of $4. If you're careful you can spend the whole day and that's all you'll have to pay!
*Pack a lunch. A great idea (I didn't think about it till we were there, my kids were hungy, and I was noticing how expensive it was to buy very unhealthy food.) But if you don't mind paying a little extra you can take advantage of things like fried twinkies! My friend did!
*Look for the Davis Hospital booth with a kiddie swimming pool filled with cool bottles of water, for free! Otherwise you'll pay at least $1 for them.
*Take your kids to the Story Telling tent where there are clowns who will make them a balloon animal, for free! Just don't let your balloon touch the grass, or hot car, otherwise it will pop (like my son's poor giraffe! He left the fair crying, poor guy!) Inside that same tent is lots of things for your kids to do, stories, puzzles, and even a huge sandbox.
*You must see the adorable baby tigers! You can look at them for free, but if you want to go in and play with them it will cost you $25 for 2 people. That would have been an awesome experience.
*Look for the insurance agent with the golf club. (I should have paid attention to his name!) He's doing "putting for popcicles." Free!
*Check out the free petting zoo and pony rides! My kids loved it!
*If you're really hot sit up close when you watch the Splash Dogs! Kinda reminded me of the Shamu show at Sea World. You will get wet.
*Take your kids to the My Gym tent where they can play basketball, throw a football through some rings, and see how fast they can throw a baseball. Don't forget to sign up for your Free 2 week trial session while you're there!
*If you're ok with huge snakes and spiders, head on over to the Creature tent where you and your kids can hold a live tarantula! You can also hold a turtle, a lizard, a snake and a parrot! There are also fun things for the kids to do there like rubber duckie races, very cool.
Now for the things that I spent some money on:
*The rides: Tickets cost $1 each and you need about 2 tickets for each ride. I bought my kids unlimited ride wristbands for $12 each. That was the big expense.
*I love Zeppes Italian Ice, so we each got one of those and it was the perfect thing in that heat. Kids sizes are $2, mediums are $3, and the large was $4. The large was very big, so you could easily share.
*There are lots of cute boutiques so if you're in the mood for shopping bring some extra money for that.
So if you haven't already, go check out the fair!
