If you're having or going to a Halloween party and need to bring some frightfully delicious food, here's a few ideas for you! We have an annual Halloween party at my sister-in-law's house and each year I'm asked to bring my Oreo Truffle Eye Balls. A couple years ago I made these for my son's pirate birthday party, and copied the idea off of Pirates of the Caribbean and put my eye balls in a jar. I decided to do that this time too for a decoration, with more on a plate for easy eating. Wanna make your own? Here's the recipe:
1 package Oreos
1 8-oz package cream cheese
1 package Almond Bark, or any white chocolate will do
1 package gummy life savers
Chocolate Chips
Open your Oreos and separate the cookie from the filling, in 2 separate bowls. My kids were great to help me with this part!
Mix your Oreo filling and cream cheese together in a bowl.
Crush your Oreo pieces very finely. I used my food chopper. You don't want to have any chunks.
Then mix all together. Once it's all mixed, roll into balls. I make the truffles smaller if I don't make them into eye balls, but when you're using gummy life savers you'll need to make the balls a little bigger so they're more proportionate.
Arrange a chocolate chip in the middle of each gummy life saver, pointy side down.
Melt the Almond Bark and let cool enough that you won't get burned, but not enough that it's set.
Drop your truffle balls into the melted Almond Bark. Coat completely. Set on wax paper.
Place a gummy life saver and a chocolate chip on each truffle, right after it's been dipped.
Let them dry and enjoy! These are so delicious!
Want to add a scary touch to a salad, top with gummy body parts!
Gummy worm jello! This was a big hit with all the kids. There were gummy worms in the bottom of the green jello. When the jello had set, more gummy worms were added on the top and sides. Creepy!
