Makin' Today Fabulous: Halloween Party Food: Oreo Truffle Eyeballs + More!

If you're having or going to a Halloween party and need to bring some frightfully delicious food, here's a few ideas for you!  We have an annual Halloween party at my sister-in-law's house and each year I'm asked to bring my Oreo Truffle Eye Balls.  A couple years ago I made these for my son's pirate birthday party, and copied the idea off of Pirates of the Caribbean and put my eye balls in a jar.  I decided to do that this time too for a decoration, with more on a plate for easy eating.  Wanna make your own?  Here's the recipe:
1 package Oreos
1 8-oz package cream cheese
1 package Almond Bark, or any white chocolate will do
1 package gummy life savers
Chocolate Chips

Open your Oreos and separate the cookie from the filling, in 2 separate bowls.  My kids were great to help me with this part!
Mix your Oreo filling and cream cheese together in a bowl.
Crush your Oreo pieces very finely.  I used my food chopper.  You don't want to have any chunks.
Then mix all together.  Once it's all mixed, roll into balls.  I make the truffles smaller if I don't make them into eye balls, but when you're using gummy life savers you'll need to make the balls a little bigger so they're more proportionate.
Arrange a chocolate chip in the middle of each gummy life saver, pointy side down.
Melt the Almond Bark and let cool enough that you won't get burned, but not enough that it's set.
Drop your truffle balls into the melted Almond Bark.  Coat completely.  Set on wax paper.
Place a gummy life saver and a chocolate chip on each truffle, right after it's been dipped.
Let them dry and enjoy!  These are so delicious!

Want to add a scary touch to a salad, top with gummy body parts!

Gummy worm jello!  This was a big hit with all the kids.  There were gummy worms in the bottom of the green jello.  When the jello had set, more gummy worms were added on the top and sides.  Creepy!

Save 80% at Restaurant.com

It's my favorite time once again to buy Restaurant.com gift certificates!  That's because they are 80% off!  Just use coupon code PUMPKIN through October 25th. So here's a scenario we were looking at the other day for my mother-in-law's birthday.  We wanted to go somewhere nice, but with 16 people that's going to cost a fortune!  So we looked at a nice restaurant that had a $100 gift certificate on sale for $40.  We would have to spend $200 to use it, so half off.  I had a code that would have made the gift certificate cost us $8.  Yes, $8 for a $100 gift certificate!  Making our delicious meal cost $108 for $200 worth of food!  Its fun to see how much you can save!

Makin' Today Fabulous: Black Rose Bouquet

Yesterday and today I have been busy making this black rose bouquet.  I found some black roses in the Halloween section at Walmart, grabbed a vase, some black tissue paper, and some black ribbon and went to work.  It would make a good center piece at a Halloween party, but I had something else in mind.

A present for my Mother-in-law's 50th birthday!  Normally this bouquet should have taken a few minutes to throw together, but I had a project on my hands.  I decided to ask every member of our family something they liked about her, including out of state in-laws.  That was the hard part.  Then I typed everyone's responses on white paper, cut those out, then glued them to black paper, and cut them out again.  Then I used ribbon to tie the papers to the roses.  Voila, a perfect 50th birthday present!

On a side note: have you joined Buzz Agent yet?  I love doing it!  They send you products to review, and then spread the word and report back on that!  Well let me just say that this Buzz campaign has saved my life (well, at least a trip to the store) two times now.  The first was when I was helping my son with his reflections project, and the second today when I was making this bouquet.  I received an incredible box of scrapbook/craft supplies, including Elmer's Tape Runner.  Since trying it, I am in love with it and use it on everything.  I need to go buy some because I'm almost out and I don't know how I'll do my crafts without it now!
