Makin' Today Fabulous: Eating Grave Yard Dirt, My Favorite Halloween Treat!

My favorite Halloween treat is Grave Yard Dirt.  It's delicious and so easy to make.  All you need is Oreo's, chocolate pudding, gummy worms, and candy pumpkins.  Crush your Oreo's and put a layer into your dish.  Then top that with chocolate pudding, then another crushed Oreo layer, more pudding, then one more layer of crushed Oreo's.  Decorate with gummy worms and pumpkins.  This is really fun to serve at a Halloween party, the kids will love it too!

13 Ghosts of Halloween

I've been reading 13 Ghosts of Halloween to my kids, over and over, at least a couple times a day.  They love this cute book.  It's kind of a spoof on "The Twelve Days of Christmas," going through all different spooks of Halloween.  It's a cute story for little kids.  What other Halloween stories have you been reading to your kids this month?

Makin' Today Fabulous: Watching a Classic Kids' Halloween Movie, With the Kids, Of Course ;)

My husband and I were talking about our favorite Halloween movies as a kid.  Of course It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown was on our list as well as some others, but we both agreed the one we liked best as a kid was The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, otherwise known as Ichabod Crane.  So we looked and looked for it and finally found it at Amazon listed as The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (Disney Gold Classic Collection).  I was hoping it would come on TV, but I couldn't find it, so we ended up buying it from Amazon for $12.49.  I don't love the Mr. Toad part with it, but my kids laughed and laughed at Ichabod's part.  Really, it is pretty hilarious.  Oh, and as an added bonus, the DVD comes with the classic Mickey Mouse Lonesome Ghosts, too!  My kids were more afraid of that than they were of Sleepy Hollow and the Headless Horseman!  I guess it's just because of the way they make Ichabod out in the movie, you can't help but laugh.  So before Halloween comes, borrow it, rent it, or buy it, but if you haven't watched Sleepy Hollow with Ichabod Crane with your kids, you really should!

Makin' Today Fabulous: Let Your Kids Decorate Halloween Cupcakes

Have you seen the cute Halloween cake mixes out right now with the orange and black fun fetti in the mix?  I decided to mix that up and let my kids decorate their own Halloween cupcakes for a fun treat.  They loved it.  Here's a hint I always have to do with my kids: give them their own butter knives and a slab of frosting on their plates.  I also recommend dishing out the amount of candy you would like them to have including sprinkles, because if they're anything like mine, they will use all of what's available!  The seperate knife and frosting?  That's because they frost the cupcake, then lick the knife, frost, lick, frost, lick... you get the point.  :)
