Makin' Your Family More Fabulous: Makin' Your Own Baby Food!
Today's post comes from Janiel, who makes all of her own baby food! Besides being a great way to save some money, Janiel makes everything her 9-month-old baby eats because that way she knows what's in it! And after reading these recipes I think Janiel's Baby is getting a gourmet meal, lucky baby!
Here's a couple of her baby's favorite recipes:
Cinderella's Pumpkin
(Don't ya just love the name?)
1 Tablespoon unsalted butter
1/4 cup washed and sliced white part of the leek
Half a small pumpkin or butternut squash, peeled and cut into cubes
1/2 cup water
Melt the butter in a saucepan and saute the leek until lightly golden. Add the pumpkin or butternut squash and continue to cook for 2 minutes. Pour in the water, bring to a boil and then simmer, covered for 30 minutes or until the squash is tender. Puree in a blender, or mash with a fork for older babies.
Banana Blueberry
1/4 cup blueberries
1 small banana
Put blueberries into a saucepan together with 1 Tablespoon water and cook for about 2 minutes or until the fruit just starts to burst open. Put in blender with banana and puree until smooth.
Because these recipes may make more than your baby can eat at one time, I like to fill an ice cube tray with the remaining mixtures and then freeze it for later!
Thank you so much, Janiel, for sharing a great tip for Makin' Your Family More Fabulous!

Makin' Your Family More Fabulous
Today's idea to make your family (and mine!) more fabulous is an easy one, no prep time, all you need is at least a half hour of your time and some upbeat kid-friendly tunes.
Every parent has noticed how much energy their kids have! Today, try to grab some of it for yourself! I started thinking that there was no way I was going to get a work out in today until I had the idea that the kids were going to be the work out! They were playing around like they do all the time, jumping around, and of course my little girl was singing as she always is. So I ran and grabbed my little boy's CD player that already had a kid CD in it and turned the music way up! Then we danced around and took turns being the leader and having the others follow our moves. I grabbed some hand weights for added measure, but you don't have to. We really had such a great time! My kids were thrilled that I was dancing around acting silly with them and I was thrilled that I was actually a little sore after our "work out."
So today I challenge you to get active with your kids. You may just find (like I did) that their energy can be contagious!
FREE Fisher Price Trio Car Shipped Right to Your Door!
HOLY COW!!! Fisher Price is offering a FREE Fisher Price Trio Car with FREE shipping! I've done a few of these deals before and they always come! Go here to request yours. Allow 8-10 weeks for delivery (are you thinking Christmas too?). The site is running extremely slow and when I filled out the form it said that it couldn't be processed because of the high volume of requets right then, and it said I could come back or try calling to complete the order. Don't bother calling, the lady I spoke to said that there wasn't a way to complete it over the phone but that she had a large supply and the offer was just released so there should be some available later today. So keep trying because this offer is totally worth it! I will let you know when I am able to order mine.
